Oakdoor 1G Diode
Hardware-based cybersecurity device for uncompromising protection of data, sensitive information, and critical networks.
Hardware-enforced cybersecurity
The Oakdoor 1G Diode is an advanced cybersecurity hardware device designed to ensure a one-way flow of data, specifically tailored for deployment in the most secure defence, security, and critical national infrastructure environments.
With its compact form factor and support for line rates up to 1 Gbit/s, the Oakdoor 1G Diode is perfect for a range of cross-domain applications that demand both flexibility and speed.
Security features, such as the enforced one-way data transmission, are integral to the design, allowing for the safe transfer of data between segregated and air-gapped networks. This ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and resilience of highly classified and mission-critical information.
Benefits
Cutting-edge cybersecurity features
- One-way data flow that cannot be bypassed without physically modifying the device
- Reduced attack surface that operates at the hardware level and not vulnerable to software attacks
- Syntax verification and protocol breaks making the diode an essential component of cross-domain solutions
Deploy with confidence
- Developed in collaboration with the UK government and approved at the highest security level
- Supports the UK NCSC security principles for Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)
- Performance in alignment with Protocol filtering device (PDF) and NCDSMO Raise the Bar (RTB)
Support multiple use-cases
- Maintain secure communications and transfers between high and low security networks
- Easily enable software updates and browse down from internet and other low security networks
- Protect your operational infrastructure from IT and securely segregate SOC/SIEM architecture
Testing and accrediation
Our data diode hardware has undergone accreditation by the UK NCSC's CAPS process. As the testing under the NCSC CAPS is far more rigorous than other standards, such as Common Criteria EAL, it typically supersedes any other certifications.
FAQs
A data diode is a simple network component that allows data to flow through the device in one direction only. It is named in analogy to the electronic diode circuit component that allows current to flow in one direction only.
Data diodes are used to segregate networks. Data diodes are critical components of the most secure "cross domain solutions", where combinations of one-way flow control and careful content inspection are used to ensure malware cannot cross the boundary from an untrusted to a trusted network.
An electrical data diode offers significant advantages over an optical diode in terms of speed, cost, and security. Electrical diodes are faster and more affordable while delivering equivalent or superior levels of security. For example, the best optical diodes achieve a maximum attenuation of approximately 35 dB, whereas electrical data diodes achieve a much higher attenuation of 100 dB, providing stronger isolation and enhanced protection against data leakage.
Firewalls and data diodes differ fundamentally in their design and security mechanisms. Firewalls rely on CPUs and software, making them susceptible to hacking. In contrast, a data diode's core functionalities are rooted in the physical and electrical properties of hardware, rendering it impervious to software-based attacks
